Starting in 1950 with just a wheelbarrow and a panel truck, B.H. Yerbey formed Yerbey Concrete Finishing Company as a placing and finishing only company. As the years went by Mr. Yerbey started to also do excavation of footings, forming, curb and gutter and concrete pumping. Yerbey Concrete purchased its first pump in 1966 (the first in Chattanooga) and its first curb and gutter machine in 1969. In 1967 they branched out into the ready-mix business servicing the Chattanooga and surrounding area with three concrete plants and twenty-five ready-mix trucks. The ready-mix business operated until being sold in 1996.

Property development became part of Yerbey Concrete as a result of building a duplex on a whim. Now it has become a major part of the operation as a whole with over 500,000 square feet of warehouse, office, and retail space under roof and over 50 acres of land available for future development. As a result of the growing property development part of Yerbey Concrete, Sterling Development was founded in 2007.

Yerbey Concrete Construction, Inc. now serves the concrete industry in all facets. From grading to concrete to development and all in between, Yerbey contunues to serve the Chattanooga market.
